4th Annual "Bear Valley Boulder Bash"
We are excited to host the "4th Annual Bear Valley Boulder Bash" on Saturday September 19th, 2009. Last year proved that both experienced and novice boulderers could have a fun time pulling, cranking and cheering for one another at a scenic bouldering site 5 miles west of the Bear Valley. Our intent
is not to host a world class competition but rather a friendly and fun
event.
Currently we are working on the event format to become more of a full day event instead of just an afternoon gathering. If you have any thoughts or suggestions please feel free to contact us.
Otherwise we plan to have everything ironed out by the end of June, if not earlier. So in the meantime keep cranking and mark you calendar for September 19th, 2009.

About the "Bear Valley Boulder Bash" |
top |
| Some of the best climbing in Bear Valley is on the numerous granite boulder scattered throughout the region. In celebration of this fine resource we are hosting an outdoor bouldering contest at the Hell's Kitchen site conveniently located a stones throw from scenic Highway 4 at 6,800 feet.
Over 100 climbs will be included in the contest ranging from 5.6 to V6 and beyond. We have specifically designed the contest for all ability levels, including the kids. Numerous prizes will be awarded for all levels and cash prizes for the top male and female finishers.
For those "uber-strong" individuals we will have a handful of unclimbed problems scoped out to tempt new route development in the area.
In general there is a lot of potential for new bouldering development in the Bear Valley area. The Hells Kitchen area is sample of what's out there and hopefully will spark the interest of some motivated climbers. We will gladly steer you in the right direction. |
